Hello, all.
Beach days are here again! My inflatable kayak is in the trunk of my car, and yes, a wet suit too, it is Canada after all, but I am psyched for some hot weather!
I’ve had a wonderful year to date, with a fun performance schedule slated for the summer. I started the year on the road with my good buddy October Browne on our annual concert tour in Upper and Lower Canada, The Raise the Dead of Winter Tour. We had a ball. Thanks to all the good folks that made it happen: The Weeds, Marvelous Marvin, Dean Verger, Julie DeSensi, Stephanie Akroyd, Holly Fleming, Sylvie Duchesse. Hats off to you for supporting Canadian music, we will see you again in January.
I launched my new recording, Late Night Parlour, with The Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra at The Confederation Centre in February. To those of you who haven’t sung with a symphony, let me recommend it. It is THE BEST fun ever! People are loving this album. I am soooo thrilled with this recording, and am very grateful to all who worked on it. Thanks to local publicist Kele Redmond and national publicist Philly Markowitz for getting the word out about Late Night Parlour. The recording just garnered some international press with a two page full colour spread in the American magazine Airstream Life (That’s a 1965 Airstream Caravel on the cover don’t you know, part of my fleet of vintage trailors).
Check out my performance schedule for summer and fall. I can’t wait to play at Stanfest, The Halifax and Fredericton Jazz Festivals and some great local theatre. I will also be spending as much time as possible at Rock Barra Artist Retreat over the summer. In the fall, October and I hit the road together again, this time heading west. The prairies should be very beautiful in October.
A month ago, I launched a new initiative with the help of my good buddy Ryan Hutchinson. Check out Seeds for a Song. We want to do what we can for food security, one seed at a time.
Happy gardening, friends. I hope to see you at one of my gigs and remember even a poor day at the beach is better than a good day on the job.
Cheers,
Teresa
