A new decade! How exciting. A big thank you to all the folks who support my music and have helped me expand my wings from Celtic music to jazz. Celtic music will always be my soul, but jazz is my passion. As I say good-bye to 2009 I am grateful for getting to play this fantastic music with such wonderful musicans. Launching Late Night Parlour with the P.E.I. Symphony Orchestra at The Confederation Centre was the highlight of my year. Singing with an orchestra… it doesn’t get more fun that that! With three jazz festivals, touring in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec it was a wonderful year!
And what will this decade bring? I am hoping we will see advances in human consciousness and technology that are beyond our wildest dreams. And music…lots of beautiful music…painting too perhaps, and glorious beach days and inspirational events at Rock Barra Retreat, our beachside paradise on the northside of Prince Edward Island.
I’m hitting the ground running in 2010. January is busy with hometown gigs and the P.E.I. music awards. I’ve garnered three nominations for Late Night Parlour: female artist, jazz recording and songwriter of the year for my swing tune ‘You’re My Cup of Tea’, and won the Jazz Recording of the Year award! In February October Browne and I embark on our third Raise The Dead of Winter tour in Ontario. In March I’m off to Cuba for a couple weeks of sun and music. Later in the year I’ll be heading back to Ontario, to Western Canada and north to the Yukon for a Home Routes tour.
Thank you for visiting my website. Perhaps I will see you at a hometown gig here on the Island over the summer or get in touch if you would like us to perform or teach a voice workshop in your town. As you start thinking about seed for spring check out our Seeds for a Song project—a project that encourages collecting, conserving and giving away heritage vegetable seed.
Wishing you a glorious decade,
Teresa
