Hello Winter! Are we ready for this? We had such a long extended fall… finally some sun after a rainy summer. We had an extraordinary summer at Rock Barra Artist Retreat. The season there just gets longer and longer with events this year into early November. It always feels good to drain the water and tuck it in for the winter. We do have a winterized cabin where our members can go for a quiet retreat. It is so lovely and peaceful there on a winter’s day.
I am busy as always with teaching, painting, taking care of my 97-year-old mom, and enjoying time with my delightful new partner. Life is full with lots to be grateful for. It is tough to see events in the world. Our job as artists is to envision a more peaceful equitable global community.
Tonight I’m playing one of my favourite shows, the Island Jazz series at Baba’s. I feel very fortunate to have such a stellar band: Jordan Taylor on guitar (that’s Ian Toms in the photo from last fall’s show), Mat MacEachern on drums, Adam Hill on bass and our wonderful organizer and saxophonist Dan Rowswell.
Showtime is 8 o’clock at Baba’s Lounge, upstairs from the famous Cedar’s Eatery on Great George between Kent and Fitzroy in beautiful Charlottetown, PEI. Be sure to get there early in order to get a table, it is a very intimate little jazz venue. The food is excellent and they have local beers on offer.
Hugs,
Teresa
